“Knowledge, Compassion, and the Path to Recovery”

Speakers:  Kate Greenaway and Udom Craft.

This week, Kate Greenaway and her son, Udom Craft, will share what they have learned through Udom’s long journey of addiction, brain injury, homelessness, treatment, and recovery. Together, they will explore the often-overlooked connection between brain injury and substance use disorder, and why many treatment programs fail to meet the needs of people with cognitive impairment. Drawing on their own experience, Kate and Udom will reflect on how understanding, patience, and individualized aftercare helped create a pathway to healing. Few journeys call us more deeply to live our UU values of love and compassion than the journey between parent and child. When that journey includes addiction and brain injury, those values help us stay grounded in what truly matters.
